What a weekend.
I’m writing this on Monday evening, and I have to say that this is probably the most exciting day I have ever spent in my pajamas on the couch.
But let’s rewind a little bit.
The beginning of this weekend was spent going out downtown with friends (something I rarely do) and trying not to drown from all the rain in Austin.
I survived, but I’m afraid I can’t say the same for my new lavender plant. Can these come back from drowning?
We spent Saturday night going back and forth between watching Zombeavers on Netflix, and tracking the local weather updates on the news. The weather was definitely the scarier and more entertaining of the two. We had a few tornado warnings, but we were well prepared with helmets on call.
On Sunday, the weather cleared up enough for us to go on a walk at the boardwalk in our neighborhood. It was great to finally get outside after days and days of consecutive rain, and the dogs were happy as well. My favorite part was seeing dozens of turtles basking in the short lived sunlight. There was also a guy blowing huge bubbles, which was quite fun to watch.
On Sunday night, Matt and I drove about an hour away to meet up with some of my college friends and see a great performance by Jo Hell Band. It was so great to catch up and visit, even if it was just for a little while. We also cooked a giant Brisket, which I just ate and can say it was a success.
We spent the entire day on Monday watching the weather radar and tracking severe Austin weather from our couch. It got pretty crazy there for a while. At one point, the water at our back door was almost flowing into our dining room.
Luckily, most people in our area were safe, but there have been tons of flooding and close calls with tornadoes. There are parts of downtown Austin that definitely shouldn’t be underwater, and there is even more rain in our forecast over the next few days. Hopefully, the worst is over. Otherwise, we’re going to need to build an ark.
I missed you all on my blogging break, but I’m glad to be back after a much needed rest-weekend.
How was your Memorial Day weekend?
