T.G.I.F (Truth. “I am”. Gratitude. Fuck it) (#5)

It’s FRIDAY! I want to take Friday out to a nice restaurant and caress it’s feet under the table. I want to walk hand in hand with friday underneath a sunset and then whisper sweet nothings in it’s ear.

Whew. Seriously. It’s been a long, busy, but productive week.

Let’s do this thing!

Truth:

I usually reserve this space for something brutally honest, but today I want to praise myself.

I’ve had a difficult time the last month getting motivated to get back into a regular workout schedule and this week I kicked working out’s butt. I was able to squeeze in both a run and a meditation during my lunch break every day, and I’m super proud of myself.

As a result, I’ve felt more clear headed, less anxious, and like I can handle it all.

I always know I feel better when I work out, but sometimes it takes actually doing it to remember why.

Now if I can only stick with it next week!

Gratitude:

So much to be thankful for this week.

Family-

I’m so excited that one of my favorite cousins and his wife recently moved back to Austin. We finally got to meet up for dinner this week and it was really a breath of fresh air. I often have a difficult time doing social things during the week, but when I do, it always makes me happy.

Energy-

I had a lot on my plate and was able to get most of it done this week. I tried my best to make sleep a priority, and it paid off. On top of working out, I got some writing done, hosted a Bingo night, and put in a few extra hours of work. Did I mention how happy I am that it’s Friday?

Friends-

I’m not proud to admit that I’m not the best at cultivating new friendships and keeping up with old ones, but  it is something that I’ve been working on this year. Luckily my good friends love me anyway, and when we do get together, it’s like no time has gone by. Tonight I’m having dinner with one of my long time best friends and I am absolutely giddy about it.

Austin weather can be fickle this time of year, and this week has been no exception. We’ve had some crazy storms and the temperature got up to 90 degrees at the beginning of the week. The last few days have been absolutely amazing though. It’s been cool in the mornings and in the mid-seventies during the afternoon. That won’t last long, so I’m trying to get out and enjoy it as much as I can.

That’s right, I’m talking to you. I can’t tell you how happy it makes me that people are coming here and commenting on my silly website. I’ve really enjoyed reading new blogs and getting to meet some new folks, and really appreciate everyone’s feedback. Hug yourself right now. That was from me.

“I am”:

Reading-Neil Gaiman’s “The Ocean at the End of the Lane.” LOVING IT! I’ve read pretty much all of Neil Gaiman’s books and somehow this one got pushed to the back burner on my kindle for the last few months. It’s a little bit fantasy and a whole lot of beautiful. Read it if you haven’t!

Eating– All of the pineapple. Literally, I ate the whole thing. In two days. And it was amazing.

Watching- Veep on HBO Go.

I just figured out how to use my boyfriend’s X-Box, and subsequently learned that we have HBO Go! Therefore, I immediately started binge watching Veep.

Fuck it.

I’ve been beating myself up for accidentally missing a doctor’s appointment this week. I also planned on getting my car inspected and my oil changed. I also meant to call about a bill that my insurance was supposed to cover.

I keep reminding myself I’m human and I make mistakes and I can’t do EVERYTHING. Though all of these things are moving to the top of my “to do” list.

For Monday.

For now? Fuck it.

    The exercise thing – yay! I always have trouble remembering the same. Although I did do some “planking” the other day, and my body is still objecting two days later. Turns out I have a LOT of work to do on my core.

    haha appointments being pushed back? i’ve been pushing back my dental appt FOR A YEAR NOW. my teeth are on point since i take dental hygiene very seriously but dentists need to stop coming at patients with a mask and sharp things! it’s no wonder people hate going there!!

    We had such a hot gross April here (Florida). Then yesterday we all of a sudden got a reprieve and the highs are only in the low 80s. It’s beautiful, but we know it’LL be hot again before we know it (and until September).

    You can’t do it all – you kicked ass on what you did do though!

    I find that when I skip workouts, I very quickly forget how I feel after them. So I try to keep myself on a schedule. Good for you for getting it done this week! It’s awesome to do it at lunch. A nice break in the day and it doesn’t clutter up your mornings or evenings.
